Andy Lloyd

Community Led Homes Accredited Adviser

A+ R A-

Ambition Lawrence Weston CLT

7th March 2018

Andy is providing technical support for our 40 home community-led housing project in Lawrence Weston, Bristol. He has delivered viability options, presented to the Steering Group on delivery options, advised on suitable approaches to delivery models and governance and has done some research for us into private sector partnerships. His support to date has been invaluable, delivered on time and with the degree of flexibility that is required for community-led projects. Andy has real expertise in financial modelling and in-depth knowledge of the CLT sector tool, which was very difficult to identify elsewhere. It’s a pleasure to work with him and I’d recommend his services to other community-led housing projects that need technical support and advice.

“I have worked with Andy for several years in his role as Community Land Trust Officer at Cumbria Rural Housing Trust, and I have always been impressed by his level of knowledge and expertise. He has been a major influence in the success of the Keswick Community Land Trust, helping them get established, putting them in touch with relevant stakeholders and assisting with getting their first scheme up and running. Keswick Community Land Trust have since gone from strength to strength developing a number of schemes for local people.”

Lyvennet Community Trust

In March 2007 a steering group began work on the Lyvennet Valley Community Plan.  Over 200 questionnaires were completed by community households – a 72% return rate – providing a wealth of information.  The completed plan was published in May 2009. The consultation resulted in 41 Action points with affordable Housing being the second highest priority. So in 2008 we asked Cumbria Rural Housing Trust (CRHT) to carry out a parish housing survey which confirmed the extent of need. We were aware that Andy had recently been employed by CRHT as the Community Land Trust Officer, so we invited him to talk to the parish Housing Group which gradually led to the formation of the Lyvennet Community Trust. Andy supported our group throughout helping us apply to the CLT Network for start up funding and create a partnership with the Local Authority. He also put us in touch with the CLT Fund which helped us to buy our site, introduced Charity Bank who became our lender, and introduced us to the Homes and Communities Agency who provided grant towards the scheme.

Helsington Community Land Trust

When Helsington Parish Council first looked into the lack of Affordable homes within the Parish, Andy was invaluable and instrumental to the community with his constructive advice on starting a Community Land Trust. HCLT are now on the cusp of delivering affordable homes and this could not have been achieved without the meticulous efforts of Andy.

Andy’s strength is that he delivers a bespoke service for each individual Trust by listening to their particular needs. He has been very understanding of what we as a Trust are trying to achieve and the support, commitment, patience and direction has been priceless. There is not a one size fits all. Andy facilitates useful discussions to arrive at decisions that are unique to HCLT.
