Community Led Housing includes:

  • Community Land Trusts set up by local people to provide protected affordable homes for current and future generations
  • Group or individual self-build - which could be hands on or professionally managed
  • Co-housing - intentional communities, created and run by their residents. Each household has a self-contained, private home as well as shared community space. Residents come together to manage their community, share activities, and regularly eat together. Cohousing is a way of resolving the isolation many people experience today.
  • Self-help housing - where community members renovate empty housing to meet their own needs and gain skills
